Some people may wonder at the seriousness with which we consider “education” when it may look as though we are mostly out “playing” and being active outdoors. The outdoors aren’t just a backdrop — the wilderness, rivers, lakes, granite rocks, peaks and trails of the Sierra Nevada — they are the most honest teachers in our Nevada County classroom. Through the intentional use of ropes courses, rock climbing, and backpacking, we create pivotal moments where the classroom has no walls.

While what we do is exciting, fun, exhilarating and active, there is also much more going on than meets the eye. Purpose is a big part of that — we are deliberate in providing opportunities for all people to learn what is needed in order to live a full, meaningful life and to grow into the kind of people that also contribute to the greater good of all.
